Railway Photographs by Jonathan Lewis

Welcome This website displays a selection of my photos I have taken of proper traction in the UK and also some foreign stuff mainly from Switzerland which is one of the few countries left with a ‘proper railway system’ as well as some decent scenery. There is the odd exception to ‘Classic Traction’ rule on some of the more scenic lines in the UK where any loco in my opinion makes a fine sight and classic traction is few and far between in some places. The photos in the ‘Archive’ section are not that great as most of my early photos are poor but most of the sights have sadly passed in history and replaced with 4 car plastic DMUs and they call it progress!

I have used various cameras over the last 10 years starting with a Canon A1 and then a digital Canon G3 and later a Canon G5 before using a Canon EOS 10D and now I am using a Canon EOS 5D.

If you whish to have a higher resolution copy of an image please contact me via the “Leave a Message” function. You may also buy prints of photos by clicking the ‘buy print’ button.

I hope you enjoy viewing the photos and any comments or questions please contact me.
